Join a device with a code
1. On a device you already use
Settings → Security → Add a device (or open /add-device). Mandala shows a temporary QR code and a short code (like K7QD-4M2P). It lasts 5 minutes and works once; New code makes another.
2. On the new device
Open your Mandala's address and choose Join your identity (I already use Mandala on another device), then:
- if this device's keychain already holds your passkey, Continue with Face ID and you're in;
- otherwise Use a code: scan the QR, or type the code. A typo is caught at once ("one character looks wrong").
The new device shows Joining Sam with your seal. Check it is yours.
3. Approve on the trusted device
It asks "Add this … as you? It will see what you see and act as you." — press Add with Face ID, or Not me. Then Welcome back: the new device lands where you last were.
Joining a node (a Mac or a second server)
A new Mandala node — the Mac app, or a server you just installed — joins the same way, from its own first screen: Join your identity → Use a code. The two nodes find each other through the device mesh (directly, on the local network while the code lives, or through your home's address, which you can type under Your home's address (optional) when the new one is on another network), check the code without sending it, and the trusted side signs the new node's certificate with Face ID. If Mandala asks, restart it on the new device to finish.
Safety
- A code works once and lasts 5 minutes; after repeated wrong attempts, adding devices pauses for 10 minutes.
- Nothing is shared until you approve on the trusted side. If you didn't start it, press Not me, then check Devices and browsers in Security.
- Lost every device? See Keys and recovery.
