Identities
Everything in Mandala belongs to an identity, and every change is signed by one. An identity is a key pair plus a record of who it is.
| Kind | Example | Legal person | Owns things | Signs with |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Person | You | Yes | Yes | Its own key |
| Organisation | Acme Trading | Yes | Yes | Its own key, by its owners' governance |
| Space | The House | No | Holds what its members share | Its members, under their grants |
| Agent | Your accomplice | No | No | Its own key, for whoever runs it |
- Organisations are owned, with shares if needed (you 60%, your partner 40%). Owners govern: they grant roles and change rules.
- Spaces are functional, not legal. A household shares groceries, bills and a vault, but owns nothing in law.
- Agents are run by a person or an organisation. Their grants never exceed their runner's.
Create an organisation or a space
- Settings → Identities and ownership → New organization or space.
- Choose the Kind and a Name, then create.
- For an organisation, Add owner with a share in percent. For a space, Add member.
Creating one gives you a full delegation to act for it. It then appears in the Act as switcher. Give it a vault from Knowledge when you act as it.
Keys
Each identity's key is held by your node today. Moving organisation keys to their own servers, and owners' thresholds for sensitive changes, are Coming soon. Your personal root keys, which decide which devices are yours, are covered in Keys and recovery.
